Tree ferns are a bunch of comparatively primitive ferns within the order Cyatheales, most of them characterised by ascending trunk like stems ANd an arborescent habit. Tree ferns are conspicuous plants of wet tropical forests round the world. Species found at lower elevations are usually widespread colonizers of disturbed or successional habitats. An outsized variety of species are restricted to terribly little ranges on islands or at higher elevations, usually in more-mature forests on isolated tropical mountaintops. Cyathea latebrosa is found across South-East Asia together with Kampuchea, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo and state. The species is found growing at altitudes from water level to around 1700m. The species is taken into account closely associated with Cyathea incisoserrata.

Cyathea latebrosa will grow a trunk of up to 4m (13ft) with fronds reaching around 2m (7ft) long. The stem bases retain spines in common with several fern genus species. The trunks tend to be quite skinny measurement 10-15cm in diameter.
